American Council on Education
Founded in 1918, ACE is the major coordinating body for all the nation's higher education institutions and seeks to provide leadership and a unifying voice on key higher education issues and influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives. ACE's membership includes more than 1,600 college and university presidents, and more than 200 related associations, nationwide.
Association of American Universities
The Association of American Universities (AAU) was founded in 1900 by a group of fourteen universities offering the Ph.D. degree. The AAU currently consists of sixty American universities and two Canadian universities.
The association serves its members in two major ways. It assists members in developing national policy positions on issues that relate to academic research and graduate and professional education. It also provides them with a forum for discussing a broad range of other institutional issues, such as undergraduate education.
American Association of Community Colleges
Based in Washington, D.C., the American Association of Community Colleges is a national association representing the nation's 1,157 accredited community, junior and technical colleges. The colleges comprise the largest sector of higher education, serving almost half (46 percent) of U.S. undergraduates, with an overall enrollment of 6.6 million credit students and 5 million noncredit students.

National Association of College and University Business Officers
The National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) represents the chief administrative and financial officers at almost 2,200 colleges and universities across the country. NACUBO's mission is to promote sound administrative and fiscal management of institutions of higher education.
National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities
Since 1976, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) has served as the unified voice of the nation’s private colleges and universities. Its nearly 1,000 members reflect the diversity of private, non-profit higher education: liberal arts colleges, major research universities, church- and faith-based institutions, historically black colleges, single-sex colleges, arts institutions, two-year colleges, and schools of law, medicine, and other professions. Also affiliated with NAICU are nearly 30 private college and university organizations – such as groups of church- and faith-based institutions, and regional groups of colleges – and nearly 40 separate and independent state associations representing private colleges.
National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges
Founded in 1887, the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC) is the nation's oldest higher education association. A voluntary association of more than 200 public universities, land-grant institutions, and public university systems, NASULGC campuses are located in all 50 states, the U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. NASULGC members enroll more than 3.8 million students and estimate upwards of 20 million alumni.

United Negro College Fund
As the nation’s oldest and most successful minority higher education assistance organization, the United Negro College Fund’s mission is to provide financial support to its 39 member institutions and increase minority degree attainment by reducing financial barriers to college. UNCF institutions and other historically black colleges and universities are highly effective, awarding 25% of African American baccalaureate degrees. UNCF administers nearly 450 programs, including scholarship, internship and fellowship programs, mentoring, summer enrichment, and curriculum and faculty development programs. Today, UNCF supports more than 65,000 students at over 900 colleges and universities across the country.
EDUCAUSE
EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. The current membership comprises more than 1,900 colleges, universities, and educational organizations, including 200 corporations, with 15,000 active members. EDUCAUSE has offices in Boulder, Colorado, and Washington, D.C.

ACUTA
The Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education (ACUTA) is a non-profit association whose members include approx. 825 institutions of higher education. ACUTA members include both large and small institutions of higher education, ranging from small colleges with several hundred students to major research and teaching institutions with greater than 25,000 students. ACUTA member representatives are responsible for managing voice, video and data communications technology services for students, faculty and staff on college and university campuses.
